LEAMINGTON’S Fitzpatricks gym has forged links with world famous trainer Peter Fury.

And Fury’s big punching heavyweight hope Matty Harris has used the fight factory as he prepares for his next contest. The Coventry KO king fights at Birmingham’s Eastside Rooms on Friday, the BCB bill topped by Tommy Collins’ Midlands super-lightweight title challenge.

Matty – trained by Fury and managed by Max McCracken – said: “The gym has opened its door to us and literally given us a key to train there when we want.”

Harris spends most of his camps at Fury’s Congelton, Cheshire, gym. He added: “To have this on our doorstep is a valuable addition.”

Gym boss Derek Fitzpatrick said: “Matty is a huge prospect, Peter Fury is respected globally and Max McCracken is involved with some amazingly talented boxers, including another heavyweight contender Solomon Dacres.

“This link is massive for a small club like ours.”

Derek added: “Rubbing shoulders with people of this calibre can only help Fitzpatricks’ boxers in their quest for success.”
