MARAUDING, big-hitting light-heavy Troy Jones has landed a crack at the English title.

The shot is reward for the Brummie Bomber’s string of spectacular stoppages, writes PAUL WEBB.

He chance comes on BCB’s July 6 show at the Eastside Rooms, in his home city, that has been labelled “For King and Country”.
The 25-year-old is unbeaten in 10 fights and made light work of his last opponent, the tricky Prince Oko Nartey, on May 10, stopping him inside three rounds. His first shot at a belt has come at just the right time for the Lee Beard-trained KO artist - and his promoter Errol Johnson has secured him a home advantage. 
Troy, one of the game’s larger than life characters, said: "It will mean everything to me to win the English title. I didn’t have an outstanding amateur career like some fighters, so to get to this point is already a massive achievement, but it is only the start.

“It’s the beginning of another chapter in my career - the apprenticeship’s been served. I can’t wait to get in there and get the job done. There will be big things to come in my career, 100 per cent, through hard work and dedication."

 Errol Johnson said: "We are thrilled to bring another big title fight to Birmingham. It will be our 12th show of the year and shows that major title fights can still be made off TV. “Troy has a big following who have been with him from the start, so, hopefully, they will get behind him and the venue will be packed on the night.”
