Tommy finds a way past Jawad’s reach
Tommy Lee and Jawad Janjua staged an entertaining scrap
THE long and the short of it is, Leamington teenager Tommy Lee kicked off his 2025 campaign with a fine win.
And that’s despite the Fitzpatrick’s fighter giving away a head and shoulders amount of height to his opponent at Newdigate Sports and Social Club, Bedworth, on Sunday.
It was a tall order for 14-year-old Tommy against Team Shoebox’s Jawad Janjua, but he rose to the occasion.
In the opening moments, Lee tried to find a way past Janjua’s long reach – and by the end of the session had solved the puzzle.
Tommy fought with assurance in the second and began to increase his work-rate, pulling ahead to take a unanimous decision.
It was a pleasing, competitive bout and Janjua certainly had his moments.
Coach Joe Donnelly said: “I was impressed with Tommy Lee’s performance. He faced a huge task and stood up to it. I’m looking forward to watching his development.”
